Please Note: As of July 2012 you no longer need to do step 1 as instructed in the first video below. You can safely ignore step 1 (the part about clicking add content on the top of the template) . Rest of the instructions remain the same.
In the following video we will show you how to add an effect called lightbox to your images, which when clicked on will make your pictures pop-out in a cool fashion.
Please Note: The lightbox re-use content needs to be inserted only once per page. Please re-size your pictures before uploading them to dotCMS using a picture editing tool, to a maximum width of 800px. Pictures that are any wider, span across the template when using the lightbox effect, and hence diminish the visitors experience on your page.
In the following video we talk about how to group various pictures on a single page into a virtual gallery so that users can browse through the different pictures from within lightbox itself.
Please Note: When assigning a gallery name using rel="lightbox[anygalleryname]" you would use that same name for the picture on the same page to group them together. But for instance if you are wanting to create different galleries with different pictures in them, you can use one gallery name for a set of pictures you would like in that gallery, and a different gallery name for the set of pictures you would like to use in the other gallery on the same page.
The effect is available to all content authors. Content authors are not required to have the effect for all the pictures they insert on dotCMS. It is a personal choice on whether to use the effect or not for their pages.
